Faith & Works FAQ
Question:
I just can't get over thinking that faith is the only thing that saves.
Answer:
The Bible actually teaches that many things save. For example, the Father saves (Isaiah 12:2; Titus 3:4-5). Jesus saves (1 Tim. 1:15). So the does the Spirit (1 Cor. 6:11). We are saved by grace (Acts 15:11; Rom. 3:24; Eph. 2:8-9), love ( John 3:16), mercy ( Titus 3:5), the cross (1 Cor. 1:18; Gal. 6:14), Jesus' blood ( 1 Jn. 1:7; Rom. 5:8-9; Eph. 1:7, Eph 13-14), the name of Christ (Acts 4:10-12), the Bible (Rom. 1:16-17 ; James 1:21) and even preachers (1 Cor. 1:21; Mark 16:15; 2 Thess. 2:14). We must respond to what God has provided for us by hearing (Rom. 10:17), believing (Heb. 11:6), repenting (Luke 13:3), confessing Jesus (Acts 11:18; 2 Cor. 7:10), being baptized (1 Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38), working (James 2:24; 1 John 3:24; John 6:28-29), obeying (Hebrews 5:8-9), enduring (Matt. 10:22; Rev. 2:10). In fact, the Bible says we can even save ourselves (Acts 2:40). All of these things are part of the salvation process. God put them all in - which will you leave out?
