The Preacher's Pen

by Mark Roberts

Some thoughts on a beautiful fall afternoon in Texas . . .

If you are not getting Warren Berkley's Monday Messages via email you need to do so. It is free, there is no obligation, and no trouble. Every Monday in your email you will find a wonderful little message from God's word that will start your week right. Warren preaches in south Texas and has an excellent mind and clear insight into circumstances today and their relation to God's word. You will enjoy what he writes and you will be better for reading it. Email Warren at wberkley@hiline.net and tell him you would like to receive Monday Messages you will be glad you did.

Fall in Texas is just wonderful (particularly after summer in Texas!). I wonder if you remember the promise that God made Noah: "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, And day and night shall not cease" (Gen. 8:22). It is part of God's promise to never destroy the world by water again (note verse 21), but reminds us that when we see the changing seasons we should thank God for them. It is He that made all things, and by His power all things continue. When the leaves change God's people will see that for what it is: more testimony that God keeps His word.

Lots of people are saying they are tired of hearing about the Clinton-Lewinsky mess. I'm more tired of hearing people say they "Don't care" about it. Methinks the American people are getting just about what they expect from their elected officials and I don't like it one bit. In the Old Testament whenever Israel's rulers were wicked the people followed suit. You don't think that could happen today, do you?

Read the Minor Prophets recently? This summer was a time when I did some extensive study in these little books. Read them again you'll be amazed at how powerful and relevant they are.
